Practice opportunities: 3 or 4 times a week (attendance at morning practices strongly encouraged)
Description of ideal participant: This group is for swimmers who are new or relatively new to competitive swimming and have progressed beyond the instruction they received in swim lessons. The emphasis in this group is teaching the swimmers the correct way to swim the four competitive strokes and will progress into teaching racing starts and possibly flip turns.

Practice opportunities: Any 3 practice sessions a week (any combination of level I morning and evening practices)
Description of ideal participant: This group is for swimmers older than age 8 AND new or relatively new to competitive swimming and has progressed beyond the instruction they received in swim lessons. Swimmers entering this group should have a basic knowledge of how to perform the four competitive strokes, a racing start and turns but might not be able to do everything legally. The emphasis of this group is to teach the swimmers better stroke technique in all four strokes and progress them into swimming longer distances in all four strokes and the individual medley.
Prerequisites: Swimmers must be able to complete a 25 of each individual stroke as well as 50s of freestyle. Swimmers should have some knowledge of each of the four competitive strokes, the freestyle flip turn and the racing start. Swimmers must also show the ability to pay attention when a coach is giving direction and be able to sustain the hour-long practice three times per week.

THIS GROUP WILL BE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN DRYLAND BEFORE PRACTICE. COACHES WILL PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.
Practice opportunities: Any combination of level 1 a.m. AND p.m. practices)
Description of ideal participant: Some more experienced 7 and 8 year olds are a part of this category although it is primarily composed of swimmers in 10 & U and 12 & U age groups. There is still a strong emphasis on stroke mechanics with this group but there is an equal emphasis on training and meet preparation. This group will refine the strokes where it is needed and prepare the swimmer to swim the longer distances. Swimmers will also be challenged to swim 100s of a stroke (other than freestyle) and the 200 IM.
Prerequisites: Swimmers must be able to complete 4 x 50 of each stroke; 5 x 100 freestyle; and swim a legal 200 IM with proper turns for each stroke. Swimmers must also show the ability to retain instruction and adjust their strokes as they are told even when a coach is not working specifically with them. Swimmers must also demonstrate some knowledge of using the pace clock during practice.Fee: Click HERE
THIS GROUP WILL BE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN DRYLAND BEFORE PRACTICE. COACHES WILL PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.
Practice opportunities: Any combination of level 2 a.m. AND p.m. practices.
Description of ideal participant: This is the group for our top age group swimmers ages 11-18. The focus on this group is mainly training with 25%-40% emphasis on mechanics. While attendance is not a requirement to remain in the group, the coaching staff feels it is imperative swimmers attend at least 5 of the nine available practices (a.m. and p.m.) per week. The swimmers in this group will be focusing on improvement in all stroke and as well as the I.M.
Prerequisites: Swimmers in this group must be able to perform the following sets as a part of the regular swim practice:
10 x 100 freestyle on 1:45
5 x 200 IM on 4:00
5 x 100 stroke on 2:00 (breaststroke on 2:20)
Swimmers must also be able to sustain a 90-minute in-water workout plus 30 minutes of dryland on a regular basis. Also, because of the size of this group it is important for the swimmers to be able to listen to stroke mechanic corrections and make those corrections in a group setting as much as they do one on one.

· The age range listed reflects the most common assignments. Coaches will make the final determination as to which category a swimmer falls.
· Practices are not scheduled on Sunday.
· All swimmers should come to practice prepared for both dry-land exercises and swimming (bring sneakers, shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt in addition to swimsuit, goggles, towel etc.). This applies to all practices throughout the season regardless of the weather. Time set aside for dry-land will also include coaches’ announcements.
· Practices may be extended, shortened, or eliminated at the coaches’ discretion.
· Inclement weather will not necessarily cancel practice. Practices are usually conducted during inclement weather (rain) but swimmers will not be permitted in the water if thunder or lightning is detected. Call the pool (564-3991) prior to arriving if you question whether practice will be held.
· Parent and swimmer assistance is appreciated in setting up pool for morning and evening practices (placing lane ropes in pool, hanging backstroke flags etc.).
