Dual Meet Responsibilities
For every meet, we will need parental volunteers for the following jobs:
- Concession Stand (HOME MEETS ONLY: 5+ people to set up, run, and clean up the snack bar before, during and after a swim meet)
- Meet Set-Up (HOME MEETS ONLY: 5-8 people to set up the pool the night before the meet; includes placing lane lines in the water, setting up blocks and backstroke flags, arranging plastic chairs, setting up electronics equipment, etc.)
- Announcer (announces each race throughout the meet and the meet score)
- Referee/Starter - Donna Sprowls
- Meet Scoring (2 people that score the meet; usually switch off half-way through the meet)
- Runners (2 people who ferry the cards between the timers and the meet scoring table; usually switch off half-way through the meet)
- Stroke and Turn Judges (2-3 MPSL or PIAA-certified officials to oversee strokes and turns during the meet)
- 8 & Under and 10 & Under Meet Assistants (2-3 parents willing to round up the young ones and bring them to the starting blocks)
- Finish Judges (2 people that record the places swimmers finish in; usually switch off half-way through the meet)
- Ribbon Writers (2 people that place the swimmer's time stickers on the back of the appropriate place ribbon; usually switch off half-way through the meet)
- Timers (13 people to time each lane during the meet; usually switch off half-way through the meet; includes back-up timers)
