About Latshmere
The Latshmere Swim Team is a summer competitive age group swim team that competes in the Mid Penn Swim League. The team practices at the Latshmere Swim Club in Susquehanna Township during morning and evening practice sessions. The facility includes a six lane, 25-meter pool with adjoining 10 foot diving well.
All teams in the Mid Penn Swim League (MPSL) compete in Saturday morning dual meets in June and July. League and inter-league (MPSL vs. Capital Area Swim League) championship meets run through the last weekend in July. Registration for the team is open to all students, ages 5 to 18, with an interest in competitive swimming. Swimmers age eight and younger must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted and swimmers nine and older must be able to swim two lengths. Different levels or training groups are provided for swimmers of varying ability (see Competitive Program and Schedules for more information).
Dry-land training is an important aspect of the Latshmere program that swimmers are encouraged to take part in either before or after their scheduled pool time. Practice schedules and training levels are provided and coaches determine swimmer placement. Specific training information can be obtained by speaking with one of the coaches before or after each practice session or by writing to swimlatshmere@yahoo.com.
